Come One! Come All! Fiesta de Colores, SCR Seminar 2008, in San Antonio promises to be a fun and exciting seminar. We will be on the river and will have easy access to many wonderful things to see and do. The choice is yours and a hard choice it may be. The classes for Fiesta de Colores in San Antonio, June 2008 are excellent and we will have to spend much time viewing the pieces trying to decide. Once again Pat Dugan of A Stitcher’s Workshop of El Dorado, Ark will provide us with a delightful boutique and Ruth Kern of Ruth Kern Books, will offer a wonderful selection of books. Join your friends from across the region and make new friends as well as we all share our love of stitching in San Antonio in June of 2008.

Registration for Seminar 2009
Seminar 2009 will be a stitching retreat; therefore, no class pieces will be on
display. However, registration will begin at Seminar 2008.
Proficiency Levels
EGA definitions of levels of expertise:
Basic: No experience with the technique being taught.
Intermediate: Knowledge of basic stitches and materials and their uses in the
technique being taught.
Advanced: Ability to execute simple and difficult stitches in the technique and
knowledge of color and design which will allow for exploration and creativity.
Usual Stitching Supplies
What are the “usual stitching supplies”? You may find that a class
description or the letter which you will receive from your teacher recommends
that you bring them, in addition to supplies which are specific to your class.
Basically, the “usual stitching supplies” include anything that you may need for
an average project. This might include frame, tacks, frame support, supply
of needles, scissors, laying tool, pencil, paper, plus supplemental light and
magnification. Remember to bring an extension cord if you bring a light.
Dress Code
There may be a wide variety of temperatures in the classrooms. You may
want to bring a sweater or dress in layers. Most attendees dress casually and
comfortably. Fiesta attire is suggested for the Saturday night banquet!
Fiesta Marketplace
Fiesta Marketplace is our fabulous pre-seminar merchandise mall, which will run
from 11-5 on Wednesday. Plan to spend time browsing from table to table as
each vendor has even more fabulous stitching stuff than the one before.
Instead of the rushing frenzy of merchandise night, we're having merchandise
day! Vendors from all over the area are already planning to bring tempting
treasures for your shopping delight. Chapters may sell non-embroidery
items as a Chapter Fundraiser only with prior approval. Contact
Carole Lake for permission to sell
any non-stitching items. Per EGA rules, no sales may be made at Seminar
2008 outside of this merchandise event. Sales are not permitted otherwise,
including in hotel rooms, classrooms, or at Teacher’s Showcase. Vendors
will be sent additional information and will be asked to send a list of their
sale items for approval prior to Fiesta Marketplace. Sign up on the
registration form.
Opportunity Knocks
Each SCR Chapter
may provide one entry (there may be multiple items comprising the entry.)
Tickets are $1.00 each and will be on sale throughout the seminar (check your
schedule for exact times.) Entries will be on display in the exhibit area.
Winners of the drawings will be announced at lunch on Sunday. Winners are
responsible for any shipping if required. Additional information will be
sent to Regional Representatives in a future mailing.
Bookstore
Ruth Kerns Books will be the book vendor and will stock a variety of needlework
books on most subjects. In addition to the usual stitching categories, Ms.
Kerns will also have fiction books for those insomniacs who wish to read a good
mystery or novel before bedtime. Especially for grandmothers who wish to
take a book home for those who implored “Bring me something,” there will be
juvenile books also. If there are special categories of books desired,
call toll free 800-429-5075 or send an email to
Ruth Kern no later than April
30,2008.
