As part of the Covid-19 lockdown that affected us all this year, Luzine Happel, one of the foremost authorities of Schwalm embroidery in Germany, initiated a project to send in samples of Schwalm white work to be incorporated into a Global Schwalm Sampler. The piece shown here was designed and stitched by Karin Shaw as part of that project. It is a blend of Schwalm embroidery and the most recognizable symbols of Texas: the Lone Star and a prickly pear cactus in bloom. Read about this and more by downloading our newsletter here.
